Pablum for the mind - This book was quite possibly the most vapid excuse for affirmations that I ve ever read. I couldn t even make it through the entire book because it was filled with such trite and sophomoric feel-good nonsense, that I gave up on it before the halfway point. The author, Jeffrey Gitomer, is so enamored with his revelations for a Yes attitude that he continually quotes himself as if this was knowledge from an expert or deity. In reality, this guy has all of the insight of Al Franken s Stuart Smalley character. For instance, get this gem: Positive attitude comes from your ability to process thoughts in a positive way, regardless of the circumstance. Wow! What an insight! If you re a person who likes big type in different colors on little pages and short chapters that you can breeze through and feel accomplishment in turning pages, then this is the book for you. However, if you re looking for a book with some depth and insight, save your money and pass this one by. Better yet, check it out from the library (as I did) and return it when you ve had enough. Gitomer is just another in a long list of motivational gurus who serve up the same warmed-over and repackaged feel-good slop to the gullible masses.
Say YES! to this book! - Jeffrey s Little Gold Book of YES! Attitude is easy to read and yes, it has a powerful message. I liked the self tests he had in the book. They were spot on, letting me know where I stand between a YES! attitude and a NO! attitude. I can use some improvement and Jeffrey shows me how with little bits of advice I can do daily. One question was on a scale of 1-5 how would you rate Do I wake up happy? Thanks to Jeffrey, I now wake up more happier than before. -John Tzortzis
Yes to Yes! - Well done and written for day to day use. I bought another copy for a neighbor in need.
Bullent points - Poster material - I sent this back, not what I would call attitude elevating. This book is written in bullet points and many different fonts and in bold. Better poster material than authentic-self attitude lifting.
Just terrible - I really wanted to like this book. To give you an idea of how hard it is to do that, by the third page he has already told you that he s going to proliferate the YES!Attitude product line indefinitely. By the next page, he s solicited your ideas to leverage it and make money together. Oh, and did I mention, right around then he warms you *never* to use the phrase YES!Attitude in any presentation you might do without his express permission because he owns all rights to it. Basically, a marketing ploy dressed up as a book. And just way to smug and self-satisfied for my tastes. You expect rah-rah, but he s too busy patting himself on the back to even cheer. Sorry to the other reviewers, but I think this is only 1 star.
